Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help identifying a man who got caught in the act while trying to break into a Lehigh Acres home on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, who resides in the 900 block of Macy Street East, left his home on March 14 for a brief length of time. About 1:30 p.m., a white man walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell several times. Although the victim's daughter was home at the time, she did not answer the door for the man.

Assuming no one was home, the man proceeded to walk to the back of the house and climb over a wooden fence. Just as he was trying to gain entry through the rear kitchen window, the victim returned home and discovered the burglary in process, prompting the man's quick exodus from the property.

A search of the neighborhood was conducted, however, he managed to get away.

The suspect is described as between 40 and 50 years of age, wearing a black T-shirt, black beanie and blue and black gloves. Surveillance cameras captured images of a silver sedan that he was driving.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000
