FHP: Student hit while waiting for school bus

A 10-year-old boy was injured Tuesday morning when a truck rolled forward and struck him.

Michael Tristan Poe-Dover, of Lehigh Acres, was seated on the shoulder of the intersection at 68th Street West and June Avenue North waiting for his school bus, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. At about 7 a.m., a Nissan Frontier properly stopped on the shoulder next to him started to roll forward.

The truck collided into the child, then rolled backward about 10 feet before coming to a stop.

Michael sustained minor injuries and was transported to HealthPark Medical Center.

As of today, he had been discharged from the hospital.

The driver of the Nissan, Jean Altema Jean, 47, of Lehigh Acres, was not hurt.

The truck sustained no damage.

The FHP reported that the accident is not alcohol or drug related.

The crash remains under investigation.
