Lee County to make adjustments for upcoming Labor Day holiday

The Labor Day holiday on Sept. 4 will result in some closures and schedule changes for Lee County operations.

The changes are as follows:

Solid Waste

All garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, the city of Bonita Springs and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will take place one day after the regularly scheduled collection day for the entire week beginning Sept. 4.

If the regular collection day is Monday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Tuesday. Tuesday's regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Wednesday and so on, the rest of the week through Sept. 9.

Regular schedules resume on Sept. 11.

Lee County Solid Waste facilities and offices are closed Sept. 4 in observance of the holiday. This includes the operation at the Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, at 6441 Topaz Court, and the Resource Recovery Facility on Buckingham Road. The Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 9.

Residents are used to recycle from their holiday weekend activities.

Utilities

The customer service center will be closed Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

Parks and Recreation

Parks, pools and preserves remain open Sept. 4. Offices and recreation centers are closed Sept. 4 and will reopen Sept. 5.

Libraries

All library locations will be closed Sept. 4. Each will resume regular operating hours on Sept. 5.

Animal Services

Lee County Domestic Animal Services will be closed Sept. 4. It will resume regular hours on Sept. 5.

LeeTran

LeeTran will not run bus, trolley or paratransit service on Sept. 4. Service resumes Sept. 5. The schedule can be found at: www.rideleetran.com.
