"We want the senior citizens to come out and have a good time on us," Community Development Director Denise Talt said. "We are inviting the public to our Country Hoedown. We want them to have fun, to come out and have fun with us."

The popular annual event has taken place for 15 years.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Fountain Crest Retirement Community, 1230 Taylor Lane. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by today, Sept. 19 by calling 239-303-2230.

The Fountain Crest Retirement Community activities director is Debbie Whiteaker.

The event will feature Jennifer Gilmore who will sing a variety of country tunes.

"She is awesome. She is a powerhouse," Talt said.

Themed appetizers and desserts, along with beer, wine and root beer will also be served.

A 50/50 raffle will be part of the festivities, along with a guessing game - how many items are in a jar, which will include a prize for the one who guesses the right amount.

"We are going to donate half of the funds that we raise to Lehigh Community Services," Talt said.

Cowboy hats will be available, and door prizes will be given.

Those interested can also receive a complimentary tour of the community.
