A Burger King of more than 30 years, that occupied 1160 Homestead Road, was torn down, with a new one to be completed by the end of the year.

Quality Dining, Inc. Vice President of Real Estate & Development Jennifer Tyler said they are scrapping the building and rebuilding a new Burger King with their new prototype. She said the residents and community of Lehigh Acres have been very welcoming of their brand, so they wanted to replace the building.

The work began on Sept. 30 and the tentative opening of the new Burger King will be some time in December.

"We tore the building down, got rid of the parking lot and started completely over," Tyler said.

The new fast food restaurant will include a double drive-thru to provide better, quicker and more proficient services for its guests. The drive-thru also will be equipped with a visual menu board that will make it easier for guests to navigate and order accurately.

The inside of Burger King will have a larger kitchen to provide faster service as well.

"It will be a brand new beautiful Burger King building," Tyler said. "We are excited to offer a bigger, better and more proficient Burger King."
